2021 NEWSLETTERS
Picture
April, 2021
Dear Evergreen Club,
It is my privilege to serve as First Fiddle this year. To say that it has been an interesting past year is the understatement of the century, but I am looking forward to better days ahead. I would like to welcome Ellen Sorenson as our new Cello. Ellen is an alum of the University of Minnesota and has been very active in the band alumni society. As the saying goes, two Sorensons are better than one! Thank you so much for your willingness to serve, Ellen!
One of the most important tasks of the Leadership Quartet is managing and administering the Evergreen Scholarship Program. We will be reviewing scholarship applications in March and April in hopes of having our 2021 scholarship winners perform at the Spring Fling.

2021 SPRING FLING
May 18, 2021
Speaking of the Spring Fling, we all greatly miss gathering together but we of course have to do it safely.  While there have been some rollbacks of pandemic safety guidelines, conversations with Crooners and continued concerns for everyone’s health and welfare have led the decision to hold our Spring Fling virtually on May 18, 2021. We did this very successfully in the fall, and we will follow a similar format this coming spring. More information on that coming soon.

Please join me in thanking the members of the 2021 Leadership Quartet for their hard work, service, and friendship:
 Sandy Homb - Second Fiddle
Leigh Kallestad - Viola
Ellen Sorenson - Cello
I would also be remiss to not thank past First Fiddles Jerry Luckhardt and Kay Hawley as the both are always available to answer questions and provide helpful guidance. Mary Brindle continues to run the website and take care of so many of the unglamourous behind-the-scenes details. The organization is blessed by your presence.

We mourn the recent passing of past First Fiddle Bob Peterson. As many of you know, Bob spent many years directing choirs at Edina High School as well as at Macalester College and elsewhere. The family is graciously donating memorial gifts to the Evergreen Scholarship Fund. A link to the obituary published in the StarTribune can be found here:
